Class Policies

Should you need to cancel or reschedule a class at Urban Spools, we require 72 hours notice.  A full refund will be issued or you may request a Class Credit to be used toward another class we offer.  If a cancellation is received less than 72 hours prior to the class, no refund or Class Credit will be issued.  This allows the teachers at Urban Spools to be fully prepared for the correct number of students and to allow for time to fill the slot in classes that often have a waiting list.

Are you ready to take your garment sewing to the next level? Are you scared of buttonholes, collars, and plackets? Luckily, the Archer Blouse is not only the perfect everyday shirt, but it is also a great project to help grow your skill set. The Archer Button Up is a loosely fitting button up shirt with long sleeves. There are two variations of this blouse, one with angled cuffs and a back pleat and one with straight cuffs and a gathered peplum. This shirt looks great on everyone and is a great staple piece for every wardrobe. Add this versatile piece to your wardrobe and expand the skills in your sewing arsenal at the same time! This monthly clubhouse will be the meeting place for anyone participating in an Urban Spools Block of the Month program. Each month, there will be a quick demonstration for that month's block for each different block of the month quilt. There are currently three different quilts and we will discuss each one separately. This will be a fun gathering, with snacks, demos and show and tell. It will also be a great time to see any new arrivals! The Clubhouse will be offered twice each month, providing two opportunities to see the demo's. There will be one evening meeting and one Saturday morning meeting. Come to one or both!

If you have been wanting to learn the basics about using a sewing machine, this class is for you. You will learn your way around the sewing machine, including how to wind the bobbin, thread the machine, perform general maintenance, and the use of the basic sewing machine feet.

Intimidated by those awesome stretchy fabrics in the non-quilting corner of the fabric shop? Fear no more! In this class you will learn how to cut, sew and finish knit fabric with your home sewing machine. Learn the ins and outs of stretch, from how to measure it to how to make it fit while leaving class with a classic raglan sleeve t-shirt or sweatshirt.

This club will meet monthly at Urban Spools to discuss longarm quilting techniques, share tips, show and tell and generally have a bunch of fun! It is open to anyone interested in longarm quilting whether you own a longarm or are just dreaming of owning one.

This class will focus on projects not requiring a sewing machine. Bring your appliqué, english paper piecing, hand piecing, Dear Jane, La Pascagalia, embroidery projects and Michelle will be on hand to help you complete those projects. Michelle loves all forms of hand stitching and has loads of experience in all of these techniques. Come hang out, make new friends and learn the joys of slow stitching.

Class Description The Willow Tank is the perfect staple garment as we head into summer and the Texas heat! It’s fitted at the shoulders and falls into a relaxed fit below the bust. You will want to make one in every fabric imaginable! If you've been considering trying your hand at garment sewing for the first time, this is the perfect class for you! You'll learn the basics of fitting your tank and simple garment construction, including sewing darts, hemming and applying bias facing. The Willow pattern also includes a dress version that you can make at home - 2 patterns in 1!
