Class Policies

Should you need to cancel or reschedule a class at Urban Spools, we require 72 hours notice.  A full refund will be issued or you may request a Class Credit to be used toward another class we offer.  If a cancellation is received less than 72 hours prior to the class, no refund or Class Credit will be issued.  This allows the teachers at Urban Spools to be fully prepared for the correct number of students and to allow for time to fill the slot in classes that often have a waiting list.

This virtual clubhouse will be the monthly meeting place to see the latest Urban Spools Block of the Month programs and more. Each month, there will be a quick discussion for that month's block for each different block of the month quilt. There are several different block of the month programs and we will discuss each one separately. Join us for a fun virtual gathering, demos and show and tell. The Seedling Quilts is a beautifully curated collection of EPP and Applique quilt with designs inspired by medicinal herbs. Longarm quilting machines opens up worlds of possibilities. With a larger workspace, quilters gain complete control over their compositions from beginning to end. Do your children want an extracurricular activity that is also a life skill? How about one that allows them to express their creativity? After School Kids Intro Club is a Level 1, beginner sewing class. Students can learn on their own sewing machine making a variety of projects or use a classroom model. They will learn how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, how to handle fabrics, how to construct a variety of items, and how to problem-solve. All materials are included. You can purchase a sewing machine at a special youth price that is only offered to our students enrolled in classes under 15 years old.

Are your pre-teens tired of working in the virtual world? Join us weekly where we will use the original technology, our hands, needles, and thread to express our creative sides. We will tackle embroidery, hand sewing, and maybe even a little weaving. Anything goes in this class, except electricity and wifi, we want to remain unplugged! All supplies will be provided.

This is for youth ages 8-13 yrs that are ready to learn to sew on a sewing machine. We will teach them the parts of a sewing machine, how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine. Each day will have beginner achievable projects that will give youth the confidence and troubleshooting experience necessary to continue sewing at home. This class comes with an option to purchase a new sewing machine that they can unbox, use in class and then take home!

This afternoon camp is for Youth ages 8-13 years that already know how to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, and sew a straight stitch. We will be making snuggly soft animals that they create the week they are with us. In this class, they will learn how to use patterns, turn seams, applique, and turn two-dimensional designs into three-dimensional objects.

This evening camp is for older Youth, ages 12-17 and is all about beginner coding and how to mix coding in with hand sewing. They will be using conductive threads and basic coding to add lights and sounds too soft textiles.

This is the newest pattern release from Eye Candy Quilts...Go big or go home? I don't think we can go much bigger! Our big plaid quilt uses color layering to make plaid on plaid on plaid. The pattern has two options; one to use an allover print and one to feature a border print.
