We have been able to confirm a second date for Denyse! There will now be a Thursday session.
In this workshop, we will explore the farthest reaches of improvisational patchwork—and your own creativity—using traditional patterns as a foundation. We'’ll begin with fun, fast-paced exercises to become completely familiar with a single quilt pattern. Once we internalize its basic structure, we can apply the principles of improvisation to create spontaneous and uniquely individual expressions of a single theme. Some improvisational piecing experience recommended but not required.
What You Need to Bring
- sketchbook or paper
- sewing machine and basic sewing supplies
- a digital camera is helpful for recording work in progress
- Please bring a minimum of 2 yards each of two solids (4 yards total). The two fabrics should either be close in hue but slightly different in value, OR similar in value but slightly different in hue. For example, red-orange and orange, lime and grass green, white and cream. Shot cottons are an acceptable substitute for a solid. You can bring scraps, fat quarters, and/or yardage.
