Level 1 Garment Sewing: Button-Down Shirt
Join us for your first experience with sewing garments. This class is designed for Students to begin and complete a relaxed fit button-down shirt over (4) sessions. It is a co-ed class that uses the Jensen and Anna shirt patterns by Wardrobe By Me which you will receive on the first day of class.
This intermediate class will cover muslin, body measurements, fabric prep, back yokes, setting sleeves, collars and button holes.
While this is the perfect first garment class it is an intermediate level sewing class. It is 4 sessions require homework to be completed after each session. If you do not complete the homework or arrive to class on time, it will be difficult to finish your shirt. The amount of garment sewing skills and techniques shared in these classes make it a great experience for anyone wishing to grow their sewing skill set.
In session 1 Students will learn to measure the body, select a pattern size, download patterns and prepare fabric.
In session 2 Students will learn to cut out patterns and interfacings, transfer the markings, cut fabric and complete all pressing.
In session 3 Students will learn how to construct and sew the shirt.
In session 4 Students will learn the finishings of the shirt.
This is NOT a beginner level class. Students should have completed Intro to Sewing parts 1 and 2 along with several beginning sewing classes or have the equivalent experience. All Students need to know how to wind a bobbin, thread the sewing machine, change presser feet, change stitches, and adjust stitch length and width as needed independently. There will be sewing homework after each session.
