Level 1 Intro to Garments: Pleated Pants
Pleated pants are a comfortable style of pants that are perfect for casual wear. These feature front pleats and side pockets making them both stylish and functional while the waistband adds comfort and support. We are using the Cocoon or Pleated Pants pattern by Wardrobe by Me (women's sizes 0-24) (men waists 26-42).
This is a co-ed class that covers so much material that late Students and makeup sessions are not permitted.
This class is designed for Students ready to tackle their first garment, but if you have made a few wearable pieces you will still find this class challenging. However this is a not a beginner class. Students are expected to know how to thread the sewing machine, wind a bobbin and adjust stitches and presser feet as necessary.
This class will create a waistband, pleats, fly with zipper and two different style pockets.
In the first session Students will learn how to correctly measure the body, select a size and proper fabrics and cut out the pieces. Please note: there will be homework after this session.
In the second session Students will read through the pattern instructions and sew specific techniques that will help them in the construction of their pants including but not limited to belt loops, pleats, and welt pockets. Please note: there will be sewing homework after this session.
In the third session Students will bring their pants mostly completed with problem areas to adjust and to go over final finishing techniques. Please note: there will be homework after this session.
In the fourth session Students will practice finishing techniques that can then be applied to their shirt for homework.
