Intro to Sergers, Part 2: Working with Knit Fabrics
One of the primary reasons for getting a serger is to work with knit fabrics. In this two part class, you will learn how to work with jersey knit fabric on a serger to create a classic t-shirt.
In this class, you will learn how to navigate and purchase designs from WaredrobeByMe.com and how to identify which ones are appropriate for knit fabric. You will learn how to set up a 4 thread overlock stitch, options for hemming on a cover stitch or sewing machine, and how to use fusi-knit to help stabilize your hems.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Serger classes are specifically designed for Baby Lock sergers. We will be able to provide threading instructions and applicable feet for these sergers. If you own a different brand of serger, it will be your responsibility to know how to thread and set up tensions on your serger. Although optional, it is encouraged you bring your own serger machine, so you are able to have hands-on practice on your machine. If you would like to use one of our floor model Baby Lock serger machines, please email us at education@urbanspools.com in advance of the class with your request.

Urban Spools is Moving!
After 10 years in Casa Linda Plaza, we are moving on to a bigger and better location! But, this relocation will happen in 2 phases.

Here, we will continue to offer the products and services you expect from Urban Spools - Baby Lock sewing machines, modern fabric, patterns, sewing classes, longarm quilting services, and machine repair services.

Early 2025, we will open our new permanent home back in East Dallas. Our new location will offer more retail space, additional classroom capacity, and an overall better location experience to better serve you.
