Sewing Double Gauze with the AnyTime Topper
Double gauze fabric is two thin layers of cotton stitched together which makes it an incredibly versatile. We are using it to make the Any Time Topper by Amy Barickman. This topper can be used as a wrap, shrug, robe or beach coverup. Since the wrong side of the fabric can be visible at the sides, we are using the double gauze which is just as beautiful inside as outside.
The quick and easy construction make it as fun to make, as it is to wear. The pattern includes multiple sizes and can be made mid-hip (short), just below the knee (medium), and mid-calf (long) length options.
In this class, you will learn how to treat, cut and sew with double gauze fabric. You will learn how to mark and sew pleats at the shoulders. You will learn how to treat the seams to prevent unraveling and make the inside as beautiful as the outside.
PLEASE NOTE: Double gauze fabric has significant shrinkage. Please call the store for early kit pick up if you would like to prewash your fabric. Otherwise, size up to allow for shrinkage.
This is a three hour project but depending on your skill set and speed, you may have homework after the class to complete the project.
