Piecing Technique: Cathedral Window Block
Learning Cathedral Window quilt piecing on a sewing machine allows you to achieve the timeless elegance of this technique with greater speed and precision, making it easier to create stunning, dimensional designs with less hand sewing.
Cathedral Window quilt blocks are a folded patchwork design with a peek-a-boo effect of interlocking curves. With the layering, these blocks are constructed where piecing and quilting are completed simultaneously. This block was popular in the 1930’s using a traditionally hand stitched technique. But, in this class, you will be learning a modern technique from Lisa Ellis that is done on a sewing machine.
In this class, you will learn the basics of constructing a Cathedral Window block and explore different layout possibilities. Each student will get a copy of Lisa Ellis's book to take home for further inspiration on the variety of project inspiration photos.
PLEASE NOTE: Many Students will have additional sewing tasks that will need to be completed outside of class.

Urban Spools is Moving!
After 10 years in Casa Linda Plaza, we are moving on to a bigger and better location! But, this relocation will happen in 2 phases.

Early 2025, we will open our new permanent home back in East Dallas. Our new location will offer more retail space, additional classroom capacity, and an overall better location experience to better serve you.
