Intro to Machine Embroidery, Part 2: Monogramming
Learn how to properly place monograms for a variety of project types - and explore new hooping techniques for more challenging placements.
In this class, you will learn how to navigate and purchase designs from DesignsByJuJu.com. We will explore the various fonts and monogramming accents on their website and how to read the description pages for design specifications as they relate to your specific embroidery machine. Please bring a USB to this class and a laptop. If you forget a USB, we will have one available for purchase. If you don't have access to a laptop, we will have a computer available for you to use.
You will learn how to measure proper placement for a wide variety of common monogramming projects. You will work through three monogramming projects which will explore challenging hooping situations, alternative stabilizers to help monograms stand out from fabrics, and practice with small embroidery lettering.
PLEASE NOTE: This class requires an embroidery machine which:
- has a USB port for file transfers to your machine
- able to support designs up to 5" x 7"
If your embroidery machine does not support either of these requirements, you may request to use one of our machines in class. If you would like to use one of our floor model embroidery machines, please email us at education@urbanspools.com in advance of the class with your request.

Urban Spools is Moving!
After 10 years in Casa Linda Plaza, we are moving on to a bigger and better location! But, this relocation will happen in 2 phases.

We are now open for business in our temporary home approximately 1 mile from Mr Sewing Machine in West Dallas at 2936 Reward Lane. Here, we will continue to offer the products and services you expect from Urban Spools - Baby Lock sewing machines, modern fabric, patterns, sewing classes, longarm quilting services, and machine repair services.
Phase 2: NEW Location for 2025

Early 2025, we will open our new permanent home back in East Dallas. Our new location will offer more retail space, additional classroom capacity, and an overall better location experience to better serve you. We will keep you all informed with dates and details on our website, social media, and at our temp location so stay tuned!
