Serger Project: Flatlock Seam Leggings
Learn how to shop for stretchy fabrics and patterns, how to determine the appropriate stitch type, and then practice these skills creating a pair of leggings.
In this two part class, you will learn how to use your overlock serger for faux flatlock stitching and overlock techniques. You will also learn how to use your cover stitch as a backup option to flatlock seams and to learn how to attach elastic and hem your leggings.
If you have a combo Baby Lock Overlock/Cover Stitch machine, (Baby Lock Triumph, Baby Lock Accolade, and similar models), you will have plenty of practice switching between modes for each part of the construction.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Serger Project classes are specifically designed for Baby Lock sergers. This specific class is ideal for combo Baby Lock overlock / cover stitch sergers (Baby Lock Triumph, Baby Lock Accolade and similar models). If you own a Baby Lock overlock serger, you can still take this class. We will have a Baby Lock Euphoria cover stitch available for shared use in the classroom for this project.
- If you own a Baby Lock serger, you will need to bring the following feet compatible with your serger model.
- Lace Applicator Foot
- BL Celebrate / Acclaim / Victory: BLE-LF
- BL Accolade / Triumph: BLE8-OT
- Open Toe Foot or Clear Foot (in lieu of an open toe foot)
- BL Celebrate / Acclaim / Victory: BLE3ATW-CLF
- BL Accolade / Triumph: BLE8-OT
- 1 inch Single Downturn Feller tool
- BL Euphoria / Accolade / Triumph: BLE8-S9

- If you need one of these feet available for purchase in class, please contact us so we can ensure it is in the classroom at the time of the class.
- If you own a different brand of serger, it will be your responsibility to know how to set up your serger for a 3-thread wide overlock stitch, 4 thread overlock stitch, 1 thread chain stitch, and 2 thread cover stitch. In addition, you will need all feet being used that are compatible with your specific serger and know how to install and use it on your serger.
Although optional, it is encouraged you bring your own serger machine, so you are able to have hands-on practice on your machine. If you would like to use one of our floor model Baby Lock serger machines, please email us at education@urbanspools.com in advance of the class with your request. In addition, in this class, we will be using a cover stitch machine. If you do not have one, you can use our floor model Baby Lock Euphoria.
