Serger Project: Improv Piecing
Unlock your creativity and master the art of improv piecing with your serger! Learn three block types and how you can transform these building blocks into unique, dynamic fabric designs.
In this class, you will learn how to set up your serger to ensure you are stitching with a 1/4" seam. You will learn how to create three improv blocks, square up the blocks, and how to use stabilizer to ensure cuts on the bias maintain shape as you stitch blocks into a larger project.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Serger classes are specifically designed for Baby Lock sergers. We will be able to provide threading instructions and applicable feet for these sergers. If you own a different brand of serger, it will be your responsibility to know how to thread and set up tensions on your serger. Although optional, it is encouraged you bring your own serger machine, so you are able to have hands-on practice on your machine. If you would like to use one of our floor model Baby Lock serger machines, please email us at education@urbanspools.com in advance of the class with your request.

Urban Spools is Moving!
After 10 years in Casa Linda Plaza, we are moving on to a bigger and better location! But, this relocation will happen in 2 phases.

We are now open for business in our temporary home approximately 1 mile from Mr Sewing Machine in West Dallas at 2936 Reward Lane. Here, we will continue to offer the products and services you expect from Urban Spools - Baby Lock sewing machines, modern fabric, patterns, sewing classes, longarm quilting services, and machine repair services.
Phase 2: NEW Location for 2025

Early 2025, we will open our new permanent home back in East Dallas. Our new location will offer more retail space, additional classroom capacity, and an overall better location experience to better serve you. We will keep you all informed with dates and details on our website, social media, and at our temp location so stay tuned!
