Intro to Garment Sewing, Part 1: Shirt Construction
Learn how to read a shirt pattern, take proper measurements, and stitch traditional elements found in shirt construction in this three part series that gives you a strong foundation in garment sewing for tops.
In this class, you will learn how to read a garment top pattern, learn basic terms of shirt construction and how to apply your body measurement to patterns, and construct a garment top from beginning to end over three class sessions. Once you have completed this course, you should be able to confidently tackle most garment top patterns, be familiar with various terms and style types, and have experience in various techniques to help ensure you have a professional finish. This class includes a pattern that is applicable to a Mens or Womens fit that includes a button placket, classic collar and a back yoke.
This class is designed to ensure each Student completes the session with a completed shirt. As such, there will be instances where there will be homework between sessions to ensure all Students are at the same point with each class session.
