Intro to Sergers, Part 1: Threading and Tension Basics

This class takes the fear out of working on a serger. We'll walk you through the basics of threading and tensions to get you started. In no time, this will be one of the most cherished tools in your sewing room.

In this class, you will learn how to thread your serger, adjust tensions, and how to set up for a three-thread and a four-thread overlock stitch. You will leave class with stitch samples and notes for tension settings. In addition, you will be able to put your skills to use to make a pillowcase using your serger.

Although optional, it is encouraged you bring your own serger machine, so you are able to have hands-on practice on your machine. If you would like to use one of our floor model Baby Lock serger machines, please email us at education@urbanspools.com in advance of the class with your request.
