Making Time for Creativity

This year has been a whirlwind for Antonio and me as we keep the business safe and healthy.  For my kids and my mom, it has been a BORING year as they spend yet another day at home with homeschooling, home cooked meals, and trying to find ways to make the most of their extra time.

While my mom has quite literally gone through all my cabinets and donated almost all my stuff (far worse than normal Spring Cleaning!) and my 12 yr old son has focused on video games, it is my 17 yrs old daughter who has taken to sewing!

We have our sewing space in our family living room - right between the kitchen and our TV area. It's so relaxing to come home and hear our machine whirl away as my daughter sews and sews and sews. She is currently working on bucket hats and we all LOVE them! Here's the free pattern she has been following:

How have you made time for creativity at your home during these long days? Have you found creative ways to use this extra time that would have been otherwise spent at the Fair? Share with us on social media! We want to see your creations! Tag us with @urbanspools and #creative2020.

Happy Sewing!

Hello, Kristal!

The newest addition to the Urban Spools Team is our Baby Lock Sales Lead, Kristal White.  Her background is primarily makeup and costuming. She ran her own makeup, body painting, and special effects studio for 12 years in Dallas before moving to Orlando for 3 years. While in Orlando, she worked at Universal Studios and also started her own costume shop. She has used Baby Lock machines for 12 years and loves them. Kristal has always been an artist and loves surrounding herself with other artists who bring her inspiration. She believes that inspiration is the key to being good at sales and teaching.  If you haven't met Kristal yet, come say "Hi!"

5th Saturday is Creeping Up!

Mark your calendars for our last Fifth Saturday Sale of the Year.  Saturday, October 31, bring your Fifth Saturday Bag to receive 20% off everything you can fit in the bag (excludes machines classes and services).  Plus, an early bird sale on the 2021 bag and trick-or-treating only a crafter would love.

Anchor Stitch Made Easy

One fantastic feature of the Baby Lock Lyric is the programmable tie off and trim function. You can set your machine to automatically lock your stitch and trim your threads when you hit the reverse button. It releases your fabric quickly, and you're anchored and ready to move on to your next stitch in a flash!

Free Spooky Pattern

Our friends at Baby Lock shared this adorably spooky pattern for a Dresden Plate Spider Web Mini Quilt.  Give your home a modern twist on a classic quilt pattern. Feature your favorite autumn fabrics, quilt and finish with a creepy crawly spider friend, using hand or machine embroidery.
