Introducing Koala

We are happy to announce that we are now an official dealer for Koala Sewing Machine furniture. Koala's line of cabinets and furniture are specifically designed to maximize your sewing area.  Koala combines creative space organization with ergonomic comfort.  By being able to select the height of your studio, you can improve your posture while sewing and alleviate neck and shoulder tension.  You can also select your studio style to best complement your machine and how you use your space.  Koala Studios are customized for you with masterful quality and craftsmanship. Every detail of your Koala Studio (from the environmentally-friendly, highest-grade engineered wood to the steel components and decorative handles) were chosen with quality, elegance, and luxury in mind.

The Koala studio line offers 3 Collections to choose from, depending on your machine and space needs.

  • The Artisan Collection is specifically for larger embroidery and sewing machines and is the top-of-the-line in storage and adaptability, and comes with the XL Electric Glide Lift to support heavier machines with ease.
  • The Heritage Collection is the most popular for standard sized machines and has the Electric Glide Lift to raise and lower your machine.  Both of these collections are customizable by height, wood finish, storage solutions, and accessories.
  • The Station Collection is for anyone that wants a simple solution to storage and workspace.  The collection is available in 5 wood finishes, but that's the only decision you have to make.
Koala Cabinets are designed by you with a little help from us guiding you through the process.  Stop in to check out our floor models and all the sizes, styles and colors to create the perfect crafting space made just for you.

Happy Sewing!

Shop Hop With Us

Join us now through Saturday for the annual Peppermint Lane Shop Hop.  We've teamed up with five other local quilt shops for an unforgettable holiday shopping experience.  Visit each of the participating shops to receive a FREE table runner pattern at each.

Pick up your Peppermint Lane passport at the first shop you visit, get it stamped at each store, and turn it in at your last stop for a chance to win one of 6 fabulous prizes.  Social distancing and safety practices will be in effect at all stores.  Thank you for shopping small this holiday season!

Baby Lock Origins

Did you know that the Baby Lock name came from “baby overlock machine?” In 1965, a small group of engineers wanted to create a small serger/overlock machine for home sewists, and the Baby Lock brand was born. Since then, they have led the industry in innovations, including JetAir threading.

Where's Penelope?

Our long-time store manager, Penelope, recently took a full-time position in the Finance industry.  She is still our fabric buyer, so you will continue to see her influence all over Urban Spools.  Plus, she works in the shop every Saturday, and she will continue to teach in our classroom and lead Block of the Month subscriptions.

Free Holiday Pattern

There's still time to whip up some quick, homemade gifts for the family.  How about a cute holiday mug rug?  This free pattern from Art Gallery Fabrics features vintage ornaments to show off your favorite holiday prints.  Follow the instructions for simple raw edge applique with HeatnBond.  The rest is a piece of cake!
