Sergers make such an easy job of finishing fabrics but it can do so much more! Our classes will start you at the basics and explore other projects you can complete on a serger beyond garment projects.

Intro to Sergers, Part 1: Threading and Tension Adjustments
Take the fear out of working on a serger as you learn the basics of threading and tensions to get you started. In no time, this will be one of the most cherished tools in your sewing room.

Intro to Sergers, Part 2: Working with Knits
Learn how to work with jersey knit and select patterns appropriate for this type of fabric. Create a classic jersey knit t-shirt on a serger to put these new skills to use.

Serger Project: Store-It Zippered Pillow
Learn how to use the cording foot on your serger to create corded edges and install zippers as you create pillow with two front pockets for easy access!

Serger Project: Storage Cubes
Practice switching between overlock and cover stitch modes on your combo Baby Lock serger while using a variety of feet to construct your own full sized storage cube for your cube storage cabinets.

Serger Project: Ruffled Apron
Practice gathering and ruffling techniques and hemming tools on your serger using both overlock and cover stitch functions to create this charming apron.
6 hours (two sessions)

Serger Project: Flatlock Seam Leggings
Learn how to shop for stretchy fabrics and patterns, how to determine the appropriate stitch type, and then practice these skills creating a pair of leggings.
